How niche TV channels compete with giants
Rediff India Abroad ::Business ( 30 October 2007 )

As contest prizes go, this one is out of this world. Literally. When Bindass TV launched last month, it offered to take viewers to a place normally reserved for its broadcast satellites: outer space.

The space tourism offer is the prize in a competition that makes no bones about its purpose - drive viewership to the new, youth channel.

IAMAI Digital Marketing: Industry gets a wake-up call
agencyfaqs.com :: News ( 28 S eptember 2007 )

“What Advertisement is really of concern is that the size of the Internet advertising industry is so abysmally low... This is despite so many people evangelising it.”

Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director of Madison, started off the IAMAI ‘Digital Marketing: Wake Up And Smell The Coffee’ seminar (sponsored by Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions) on an unconventional note in New Delhi on Friday. For once, there was no back-slapping and congratulatory beginning; instead, there was this unsettling statement.

@ IAMAI Digital Marketing Seminar: Same Mugs, Same Brew
Ccontentsutra.com ( 16 S eptember 2007 )
While the IAMAI Digital Marketing seminar promised much with a ”Wake up and smell the coffee” theme, a majority of what was said was a repetition of what we have heard before: some reasons for why the Internet in India is growing, reasons for why it isn’t, and a blame game between advertisers, media planners, agencies and publishers. Some impetus came in the morning session from Madison CMD Sam Balsara, who was more bullish on the mobile than the Internet, though he said that Indian agencies have been slow to adopt the power of the mobile. “The Internet”, he added, “competes for attention with Out Of Home (OOH) and other media. The OOH agencies have put up two screens outside the Madison office to demonstrate its effectiveness to media planners. What about the Internet agencies or publishers?”..

NDTV Media To Sell Advertising For Star’s Indya.com For Cricket World Cup
Contentsutra (7 January 2007)
This is interesting. Star Network has appointed NDTV Media, the advertising sales company of NDTV, to sell advertising space of its portal Indya.com for the Cricket World Cup event, reports Business Standard. Why I find it interesting is NTV Media is headed by Raj Nayak, who was earlier the ad sales head for Star in India, and had fallen apart with the Rupert Murdoch company. The split was very muddy with Star dragging Nayak to court probably for joining competitor NDTV.
